Antler shed hunting

Hello and thanks for visiting Custom Antler Designs,

My name is Nick Jeffries, I have been hunting since I was 5 years old.  I remember following my dad around the forests of Washington State while he hunted for deer. As the years progressed, we hunted together for deer and elk annually never missing a season.  During these hunts I would always be on the lookout for shed antlers (ungulates shed their antlers yearly).  Even when my tag came home unfilled, I would be so excited about any shed antlers I may have found. This is where the obsession started.

In 2003, at the age of 18, I enlisted in the Marine Corps Infantry and was sent to Fallujah, Iraq for two tours. Though I would not trade my experiences in the Marines and combat, those deployments changed my life more than I could have imagined. Four years later while driving a lonesome Highway near Priest River, Idaho a trailer of antler lamps for sale in a church parking lot caught my eye.  I immediately fell in love with every one of them.  I explained to my wife how much I needed one of these antler lamps. The purchase of a lamp changed the way I viewed antlers and changed purpose in my life. I started building my own antler lamps and crafts with the antlers that I had found from over the years. I figured out I could sell my products and then buy more antlers to keep the process going. This has morphed into something much larger when I decided to start building chandeliers. I still love all the aspects of buying antlers, designing, and building lights for clients and selling of the finished product.

It wasn’t until a therapist pointed it out to me years later that the processes of antler art had actually become a form of therapy for my PTS(D). The hours I spend creating antler art is like meditation and keeps my mind occupied, with obvious positivity too. I have been married to my wife Rochelle since 2006 and we have two teenage children, London and Nixon.  I earned a bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University in Environmental Studies and work fulltime for the City of Spokane Fire Department as a Wildland Resource Planner. My career has been suppression, prevention, and education for Wildland Fire and Fuels Mitigation.

I specialize in Custom Antler Designs. Everything I build, is built to order. I do not have any stock builds, as everything I build is one of a kind and custom. I also only build with the highest quality antlers, and do not stain any part of the light. Most artists will stain every antler to color match and hide wiring and epoxy holes. I only paint the holes I create, and epoxy I use, which gives you the natural beauty and tones of the wild antlers in your art piece. I can replicate most other designs of Chandeliers, but we always add or subtract a feature to make it different and custom. I can build anything out of antlers to include, but not limited to, chandeliers, floor and table lamps, sconces, vanity lights, hanging lights of any kind, railings and any other art that can be dreamed of.

One of my Chandeliers is featured in the GOHUNT.com showroom in Las Vegas, Nevada. I also do a lot of custom pieces in many private homes from all custom lighting to one of kind railings. I also use your antlers or mine. I have stocks of antlers that I have purchased from all over North America and Europe. These stocks include, Elk, Moose, Whitetail Deer, Mule Deer, Fallow Deer, Blacktail Deer, Red Stag, and some other exotic bones. Or you can bring me or mail your antlers of any sort, and we can build something that will last forever.

Thanks for reading, Nick Jeffries
